Arch Enemy is a thrash-influenced melodic death metal band formed in 1996. Their lyrics are themed towards rebellion against contemporary society and religion. Arch Enemy, the brainchild of Michael Amott (ex-Carcass, Carnage and Spiritual Beggars) was originally assembled from the ashes of legendary British melodic death metal/grindcore band Carcass. Guitarists Michael Amott and younger brother Christopher Amott were joined by vocalist Johan Liiva (ex-Carnage) and then-session drummer Daniel Erlandsson (Armageddon, Eucharist) in what Michael Amott called "An attempt to merge melody with aggression and technicality." The band's debut, entitled Black Earth, was released by the now defunct Wrong Again Records in 1996. It obtained a fair amount of success in Japan, achieving MTV rotation with their first single "Bury Me An Angel", as well as moderate success in Sweden.

Dead Inside Lyrics

Arch Enemy

Spiritual Isolation - The ultimate frustration
Scratch the surface, tuurn another page
The ugly truth or another pretty lie
You deceived me, I believed you
Why did everything go...

So wrong...
For so long...
So the truth comes out at last

I'm dead inside
(I'm burning up)
A hollow shell
(My private hell)
In my own misery
You leave me to dwell

Then we were young and strong
Now everything is wrong
Did you want me, did you need me
Could you not say you believed me?
Everything we had is gone...
Like an old forgotten song
The deceiver and believer
Now everything is...

So wrong... for so long.
