Arch Enemy is a thrash-influenced melodic death metal band formed in 1996. Their lyrics are themed towards rebellion against contemporary society and religion. Arch Enemy, the brainchild of Michael Amott (ex-Carcass, Carnage and Spiritual Beggars) was originally assembled from the ashes of legendary British melodic death metal/grindcore band Carcass. Guitarists Michael Amott and younger brother Christopher Amott were joined by vocalist Johan Liiva (ex-Carnage) and then-session drummer Daniel Erlandsson (Armageddon, Eucharist) in what Michael Amott called "An attempt to merge melody with aggression and technicality." The band's debut, entitled Black Earth, was released by the now defunct Wrong Again Records in 1996. It obtained a fair amount of success in Japan, achieving MTV rotation with their first single "Bury Me An Angel", as well as moderate success in Sweden.

Losing Faith Lyrics

Arch Enemy

[Music: Christopher Amott/Michael Amott/Daniel Erlandsson]
[Lyrics: Johan Liiva]

[Lead - Christopher]

As I walk alone
Paralysed and frozen
Weakened by the fact
It is the life that I have chosen

[Chorus:]
This is life that I believed in
Sentences me without mercy

Staring down the depths
Of the mind once again
Regret this way of living
Retrospectives in the end
Losing faith in heaven
Now conform to hell
Blindfolds of romance
This pain I can not bear
